Hyundai offers the IONIQ 5 in three powertrain configurations. Entry-level SE Standard Range models equip a rear-wheel-driving motor (168 horsepower, 258 pound-feet of torque) and a 58-kWh battery for an EPA-estimated range of 220 miles. All other single-motor RWD models increase horsepower to 225 and feature a 77.4-kWh battery with an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles. Finally, for drivers seeking more zip from their emissions-free daily driver, there's the dual-motor AWD powertrain with 320 horsepower, 446 lb-ft of torque, and 256 miles of estimated range.
The IONIQ 5's quick and convenient charging capability makes it impressively easy to live with. It takes just seven hours for a full charge using Level 2 equipment (240-volt, 11-kW). For longer journeys, the IONIQ 5 is one of the few EVs available to take advantage of 350-kW fast-charging technology, adding 68 miles of range in only five minutes and replenishing the battery from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes.
