The Hyundai Elantra probably isn't the first car that comes to mind when one pictures a race car. But the quintessential compact more than held its own at the first sprint race of the 2023 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge (IMPC) season held on March 20, 2023, at Sebring International Raceway. Two Hyundai teams piloted the No. 33 and No. 98 Elantra N TCR cars to podium finishes, capturing second and third places, respectively, and earning key points for the Championship season.

Earlier this year, Hyundai took third place during the first endurance race of the IMPC season at Daytona International Speedway. Last November, Hyundai Motorsport celebrated its first-ever double title-winning campaign in the FIA World Touring Car Cup, earning team and driver (Mike Azcona) crowns.

The Elantra TCR is a purpose-tuned variant of the Elantra N made for touring car racing. The road-going Elantra N takes the quintessential compact car's sportiness to the next level with a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine (276 horsepower, 289 lb-ft) and a six-speed manual transmission (standard) or an N-tuned 8-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission with paddle shifters (optional). It also equips handling upgrades like performance summer tires, an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, and sport-tuned suspension with active dampers.
